I will be arriving earlier/later than the stated check-in time. Can I still check in?

Usually this is not a problem; you can arrange for an after-hours check-in with most hotels. However, you should always confirm with the hotel. You can use the "Special Requests" box in the booking process to inform them of your estimated arrival time in writing. It's important to remember that the property can't always accommodate these requests. It's always best to check with the property directly and in advance to avoid confusion. You can contact the hotel directly by calling them, the local telephone number you can get from Nehow's Local Guide after you finish the booking.

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

A late check-out can only be arranged with the hotel and usually depends on availability at the time of your stay. You can ask about the possibility at the front desk upon arrival.

  • Back Again - Great Again
    John C
Ottawa, Canada | Jun 11, 2019 | Trip type: Couples

This is the only place I ever want to stay in Beijing. I will go back again and again. We usually get a room on the fourth or fifth floor right in the centre over the front doors looking out at Chang'An Avenue. This is the place where Jeff Widener took the famous photo of the man standing in front of the tanks as they came down the street during the crushing of the Tianenmen protests in 1989 (but you will not learn that from the hotel!).
The rooms in the original historic building are beautiful and huge and well-serviced.
Staff service is great and timely and helpful. They make it a great hotel experience.
It is five minutes walk from Tiananmen Square.

  • Excellent location
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia | May 27, 2019 | Trip type: Business

Stayed for 1 night. Room was spacious. Bathroom was huge (two sections - one with bathtub and another one with shower. Two separate sinks were useful as well). Hotel Location is perfect - next to Tiananmen square, Wangfujing street and other downtown landmarks. Next to Beijing Subway which makes commuting easier. Enjoyed breakfast (nice combination of Western and Chinese delights). Had no chance to visit the swimming pool. Hotel is old, but maintained well enough.

  • The Staff Makes This Hotel
    Denver, Colorado | May 22, 2019

Beijing Hotel Nuo has a traditional, old school charm and luxury. While it may be a bit quiet and older, it still has lovely amenities and fine finishes. The location is also great as it is within walking distance to the Forbidden Palace and the malls at the Oriental Plaza which have restaurants and shops galore. The staff was incredible. They did everything they could to make our stay go as smoothly and comfortably as possible and were quite kind. Being celiac and having to eat NO gluten can be incredibly tough when traveling and was especially so in China. However, the staff at the restaurant at the hotel, especially Kevin, really went out of their way to accommodate. They went above and beyond and created new dishes for me to eat and ensured that I always had something both delicious and gluten free. They even had their pastry chef make gluten free bread which was absolutely delicious! Overall we had a great experience at the hotel.

  • Great Location Average Hotel
Leighlinbridge, Ireland | Apr 22, 2019 | Trip type: Family

We stayed for 5 nights in April. There is a lot of confusion on booking this hotel as there is another NUO Beijing which looks far superior to this one and that led to disappointment on our arrival here.
Hotel reception and concierge staff are helpful and speak relatively good English so no complaints there, just make sure they are very clear with you on what you are paying for as they gave me the price for breakfast which I paid for yet one morning at breakfast I was approached twice by staff members to say I had not paid for enough breakfasts. Turns out you can't pay reception for child's breakfast you have to pay the restaurant in cash each morning.
The room was a good size, old style and a lot of furniture. We needed an extra bed which made the space very cramped and the extra bed was so hard we had to take turns to sleep on it. Rooms are crazy warm. I requested a fan which they did provide. If they had not given us the fan then I really feel we could not have stayed. They need to seriously invest in proper air con if they want to continue to take Western guests.
Breakfast is fantastic. Loads of choice and something for everyone. We did not eat in the restaurants other than for breakfast.
The pool was freezing and I'm glad it was as my 8 year old wanted to go but upon getting there I was very concerned as it didnt look clean or sanatized. We took a quick dip in the hot tub but it didn't smell great so we left.
There was a lot of security in the hotel with sections closed off. No explanation was given for this even though we could not roam freely through the hotel. The staff do not communicate with you at all unless you ask them a question. Having come from Shanghai and having amazing service and staff at our hotel there I was disappointed here as there were no personal touches.
Price was reasonable compared to some other hotels and location is fantastic just don't judge your stay by the online photos be prepared for basic standard. I'm not sure how it has acquired a 5 star status. I would give it 3 taking into account both the positives and the negatives.

    Dear nadien2019,
Thank you for your review and the time you spent to writing it.

I wish you had talked to me prior of your departure so I would have been able to answer some of your concerns. Our sister hotel is a new built and yes it is much newer than our 100 years old heritage building. We have started renovation and looking forward to this project to be completed.
I will look at all your opportunities and will discuss them with the department heads and put in place if it is not already, processes and training. I shall speak to the pool company as they assured me and have a log that the water is tested twice daily to ensure the safety of all our guests.
I will pass on to the culinary team your positive comments about the breakfast.
Thank you again for your feedback and hope to see you again when your travel takes you back to Beijing.
