I will be arriving earlier/later than the stated check-in time. Can I still check in?

Usually this is not a problem; you can arrange for an after-hours check-in with most hotels. However, you should always confirm with the hotel. You can use the "Special Requests" box in the booking process to inform them of your estimated arrival time in writing. It's important to remember that the property can't always accommodate these requests. It's always best to check with the property directly and in advance to avoid confusion. You can contact the hotel directly by calling them, the local telephone number you can get from Nehow's Local Guide after you finish the booking.

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

A late check-out can only be arranged with the hotel and usually depends on availability at the time of your stay. You can ask about the possibility at the front desk upon arrival.

  • Best hotel in area for the price!
Sydney, Australia | Oct 12, 2015 | Trip type: Family

This hotel really was impressive considering the price we paid (booked direct through the hotels Novotel website) fantastic location. We stayed in a Superior King room and requested a higher floor so unable to comment on the standard rooms which sound a bit dated. Its no a Hilton or Shangri-La but is excellent value with all the facilities you need.
Our room was very spacious and included a free rollaway bed for our 11yr old son. This had a very uncomfortable spring mattress but we rang reception and they provided a thin foam mattress to put over the top which was fine. Wifi was free but very...very...slow.
Breakfast was excellent with wonderful selection (and we found the Air France crew very polite contrary to an earlier review).
Service was efficient and our late checkout request was not a problem.
We would definitively stay here again.

  • Centrally located, solid hotel.
Melbourne, Australia | Oct 9, 2015 | Trip type: Couples

Very close to one of Beijing's main shopping strips, as well as close to Tianamen Square and the Forbidden Palace. Probably needs a bit of a room refurb, but all in all comfortable, clean and value for money.
We stayed on an Executive Club floor - so even better for access to the longe for happy hour and nibbles.

  • Good locatio

Average business rooms. Breakfast ok from western standards but poor coffee.
You can easily walk from the hotel to the nearby shopping and to the forbidden city.
If you intend to hire a driver, make sure you tell them exactly what you expect and make sure they verify back. It is not flexible when you start your tour.
Some staff may offer you alternative drivers, avoid these.

  • fantastic location

    Leura, Australia | Oct 5, 2015

This has to be the best location in Beijing .
We stayed in two connecting superior rooms which was great for our family group.
the decor is a little dated but the attentive staff and good breakfast made up for this .
The dated decor is reflected in the price so no complaints at all here
There is a sauna and a fantastic clean indoor pool which was great for the kids
We would certainly stay here again

  • Wins for value, location and breakfast
Sydney, Australia | Oct 2, 2015 | Trip type: Friends getaway

This was my second visit. Please see my previous review, 2013.
This hotel still wins for value, location and for the great buffet breakfast which was included in our room price.
I always reserve a superior room in the newer section (which I hear makes a big difference). In 2013 I requested a room at the front of the hotel which was good and in 2015 a room with a city view. This view was very nice.
Our actual room wasn't as good this last time though. The beds and pillows were still comfortable and there was free Wi-Fi in the room, international power points, plenty of natural light from the large window, an in-room safe, a lounge and free bottled water on a daily basis but the room seemed more old and worn. The bathroom seemed older and less inviting and there was no retractable clothes line above the bathtub like we had before. I guess each room is a little different but I agree with others that it's time for a refurbishment. Things are looking a bit old and worn.
I did find a marked improvement with the friendliness of the reception staff this time. I think a little more English is spoken now so communication is a little more relaxed. Sometimes staff don't try to be friendly when there is a communication barrier.
The buffet breakfast was still excellent with a wide variety to choose from and it is a highlight of staying there, even though I normally don't like to eat breakfast, preferring to leave room to try the local cuisine a little later in the day.
This hotel is excellently located close to the city centre, the subway and other attractions. The subway is around the corner and just a short walk.
There's an excellent restaurant just down the street where we enjoyed a fantastic Peking Duck dish amongst others. The name is only in Chinese but turn left on the street, walk past some restaurants with red lanterns on display and you will come to an entrance into a small courtyard. Cross the courtyard and the restaurant is right there at the back. Great food and service with very good prices. You can find dishes there that are authentically Chinese but still suitable to the western palate.
The concierge was very helpful on several occasions and spoke enough English to explain things quite well. He checked our train tickets to ensure we were heading to the correct train station when leaving for Shanghai but when we asked him to book us a taxi to the station he just went out to the street and hailed down the first taxi he saw.
This lead to our worst experience in China.
I don't believe it was an authentic taxi. It was old and dirty with dirty junk in the boot (or trunk) which hardly allowed space for our luggage. Then he didn't take us all the way to the station. He dumped us in a seedy area on the opposite side of the busiest, traffic crazy, multi-lane street with our very heavy luggage and with no idea of how to get across to the station or where the entry was. Unsavoury street people approached us from all directions trying to grab our luggage and wanting payment to carry it for us but we didn't trust them. In fear for our lives we just had to dodge the crazy, speeding traffic with our luggage and then search for the station entrance. We were very lucky to live to tell the story.
We don't believe this would have happened if the concierge had called an authentic taxi company.
I still highly recommend this hotel for value, location, the breakfast and the staff and continue to give a 4 star rating. If I visit Beijing again I am highly likely to stay there.
