A wonderful place to stay
James A
Jan 27, 2019 | Trip type: CouplesMy gosh, where to start? The hotel is beautiful - tucked away in the hutong, the decor is gorgeous and very unique (having never stayed in an ancient courtyard villa before). The breakfast was lovely but the real selling points are the quiet and the staff. The hotel was wonderfully silent and we slept so well. We were in a honeymoon suite and the bed was beautiful, as was the tea set in the room. The staff could not have been friendlier or warmer - we especially appreciated Indi Love, who shared her beautiful calligraphy and her father's artwork with us. It's moments like these which make a trip so memorable. Staff were also great at anticipating customer need - Happy offered to book us a taxi to the airport before we could think to ask. A wonderful place, when we are back in Beijing we will undoubtedly stay here - the hutong itself is fun to explore, and we quite enjoyed the occasional tussle with a grumpy taxi driver who didn't want to drive the whole way down (though most drivers were fine with it).

Very nice

Jan 24, 2019 | Trip type: Solo travelEnjoyed a mid-winter visit to Beijing while staying at this hotel. The staff were warm, accommodating, and generous. The reception staff helped with multiple queries I had, from local food recommendations, to understanding the culture of bargaining in Beijing. The housekeeping was great. The courtyard setting is much more interesting than a western hotel. The range of food at the breakfast buffet was excellent- from traditional Chinese snacks to nice fresh fruit. I was happy walking from the hutong to Dongsi subway station, and using this as a launchpad for exploring Beijing.

Wonderful, relaxing hidden gem
BarneyWexford
County Wexford, Ireland | Jan 15, 2019 | Trip type: FamilyThe staff were welcoming, friendly and
they couldn't have been more helpful. Our room was so pretty and had everything we needed. The shower was excellent. The breakfast buffet was good and offered a good variety. We had read reviews on TripAdvisor which suggested the hotel may be a little difficult to find (even for taxis) as it is located in a hutong (alley). We asked the hotel to organise an airport pickup for us. We were brought directly to the hotel without any worries after two long tiring flights. I would absolutely recommend this hotel -
Our favourite hotel in China!

Macclesfield, United Kingdom | Jan 12, 2019 | Trip type: FamilyWe found this hotel through Tripadvisor reviews of Beijing hotels and are so glad we did! We stayed in a family room with direct ground floor access to a beautiful and quiet communal courtyard, a little oasis in the busy city. The room was clean and spacious for our family of 4. We loved the decor and quirkiness of the hotel and the local area felt safe and well situated for many main tourist attractions. The staff were so helpful and spoke excellent English. They helped arrange a private taxi transfer to the Great Wall at Mutianyu one day. The bar area was a lovely place to relax in at the end of a busy day of sight-seeing. If we are ever in Beijing again in the future, we would definitely stay here again- we loved it, and it was our favourite hotel of our whole holiday to China.

Excellent choice for tourism

Jan 8, 2019 | Trip type: FamilyThe hotel is located in a quiet area and is 5-min walk to the metro. There are several good restaurants nearby and staff is super helpful to arrange trips and give suggestions. Rooms are comfortable and breakfast richer than the usual average in China.
