Friendly place to stay, and convenient to the heart of Beijing
David KDover, New Hampshire | Nov 6, 2015
This place is a backpackers delight. Comfortable group rooms, as well as private rooms for low cost. Has a restaurant and internet connectivity. There will generally be someone, a guest most likely, who can speak English, and get you the directions or information you need from the staff. Otherwise, the staff is well versed in dealing with non-Chinese speaking people, even if they don't speak English themselves. Only problem is getting there by taxi, and getting back out again. Sometimes you have to walk to the main road, which is a couple of blocks away from the Hutong.
Very nice place.
lineprimmesSkive, Denmark | Aug 20, 2015 | Trip type: Friends getaway
This is a very very nice hotel. It is more a hotel than a hostel. Its location is perfect and central. The staff is really nice there and most of them speaks very good english. Their trips is worth taking. We enjoyed our stay there, and we stayed there even longer than we order in the first time. Definently worth a visit!
Great hotel for the price - close to the sights
anthonyfjTelford, United Kingdom | Aug 14, 2015 | Trip type: Friends getaway
We were looking for a cheap hotel as we would be out all day and this place came with mixed reviews but all I can say was that I was really impressed! It is located within easy walking distance of the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. We had a double room and it was huge with an extra entrance room with sitting area! The welcome was excellent, the staff spoke English too, which helped with our limited Mandarin. There is a bar and restaurant attached which does excellent food (both Chinese and western - however much more expensive than eating out but still good). Wifi was free and worked well. The room was clean but the only downside for our room was the lighting was really poor! This is a quibble of mine the world over! I had a head torch - but don't let that put you off! It is billed as a backpackers/youngsters hotel but there were people of all ages there but mainly from abroad, not many Chinese tourists. The staff helped us with all of our questions and booked taxis for us when requested too. They even took phone messages for me and relayed them later well. You should realise that it is a bit of a trek from the nearest Metro station and it is down a side street that seems uninviting but is fine, even at night - China is so safe we found. For those that wish to hang around the hotel a bit there is a games area in the bar too. For the price and the service we thought this was great. It is not an all mod cons hotel but that's not why you come to these types of place is it! We felt very well looked after.
Good hostel and worth staying!
Beth NTaipei, Taiwan | Jul 18, 2015 | Trip type: Friends getaway
I stayed for 1 week at the Saga Youth Hostel and will keep fond memories
of my stay there. The rooms are really really good. I stayed in a 4 bed
mix dorm, the room was like a small apartment. They got real beds, not
these bunks you normally see in hostels. The bathroom was big and clean.
Staff is super friendly and helpful. Location is good, but not great. The
only thing I didn't like so much was the hostel bar, didn't like the
atmosphere. But there were lots of people who seemed to like it.
Over priced. Bad wifi connection
Bmym123456Jul 24, 2015 | Trip type: Friends getaway
This hostel is over priced, extremely small rooms. No windows, just a wall with a light and dirty. The food isn't good, mostly western food and staff are ok.. Not exactly the most welcoming. But I have to say the location is great. Near everything but is hard to find.
They don't have a Self catering service so you either have to but everything from their restaurant or eat out.
Over all I wouldn't stay again to be honest
