Excellent in terms of location and service but the rooms definitely need repair
Alona SJan 31, 2018 | Trip type: Friends getaway
Definitely a hotel with excellent location. The Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City are almost round the corner. Likewise a lot of small shops and traditional eateries. The hotel looks very modern from outside and the reception. The rooms (at least the groundfloor) are in worse condition in comparison with the reception. Actually, nothing terrible, simply the rooms need some renovation (e.g. the sewage system in the toilet&bathroom, the wardrobe, some pieces of furniture, the floor carpeting needs cleaning, the wallpaper are torn off, etc.). On the other side the bed linen, tea cups, towels, pillows are snow white and clean what is very respectful, as sometimes these items are very shabby even in more expensive hotels. Besides, the hotel provides one-use slippers, toothbrushes, complimentary bottled water and teas, safe, fridge, hair dryer. The water and new pair of slippers were provided for us every day anew. It was a pleasant compliment! The rooms are cleaned every day and the quality of the cleaning is also checked daily. Management of the hotel is very good likewise the receptionists. It is felt that a lot of efforts is put to maintain the current hotel condition and cleanness; however it is not enough to hide the need for repair. So, if to ignore the shabby condition of the sewage system in the bathroom (it was smelling of drainage and the floor drain is functioning very suspiciously) the hotel is quite good to spend some nights and to enjoy the walking distance to the sightseeing places. Most of the ranking is for location and services. Anyway, I would recommend to take a shower in pool shoes and not to place the bath carpet on the floor because of the flooding danger). By the way the eatery just opposite the hotel offers English menu and serves very tasty Chinese food. The gentleman speaks a little bit English. So, I would recommend not to pay much attention to the interior, enjoy the food and take everything easy.
basic and affordable accomodation in wangfujing area
A TripAdvisor MemberJan 3, 2018 | Trip type: Family
our room was deluxe room on 3rd floor..at check in we were asked to put 500 yuan deposit and will be refunded when check out..the room is clean enough except the carpet that looks old..the channel tv only in chinese but you can have blockbuster movies for extras..get complimentary 2 mineral water everyday, no issue with the housekeeper..they clean the room properly..only issue with wifi..it didn’t work at all during our stay..the location also superb..strategic..5 minutes walk to subway station tiananmen east..10 minutes walk to wangfujing..overall recommended to whom looking for basic accomodation in wangfujing area
Good location and quiet place to stay
Wes ABrisbane, Australia | Dec 26, 2017 | Trip type: Family
Days Inn Hotel - Forbidden City is at a very good location. Short walk to Forbidden City, Wangfujing Pedestrian Street and large shopping malls, near Street food market. Near subway station and bus stops. But still in a good quiet side street. Well secured.
Reception very friendly and helpful. Rooms are good size. We stayed in a family room and later in a double room. Yes, rooms could do with a spring clean.
Will happily stay there again.
Good cheap budget hotel
Robyn RReading, United Kingdom | Sep 15, 2017 | Trip type: Couples
You really couldn't ask for more from a budget hotel. Make sure you look on comparison sites as we got our for £35 a night not £90 like TripAdvisor is saying. Our room was big enough for two, a/c was a bit loud and made rattling noises. Shower had black marks where water has built up (just like many of ours at home! So you really cannot complain! And it is not mould like some reviews have said!).
The receptionists were all fab and every eager to help in translations, making money into smaller donations, getting taxis etc.
Our locker battery went during our stay and we mentioned it and it was sorted there and then.
The room was cleaned every day and very well done.
The location was brilliant, right in the middle of where you would want to go.
I really recommend the Wangfujing food street just round the corner and the Lui Li Chang streets; a lot more culture and decent food stalls and shops. And of course all the big tourist attractions - if your a student worth taking your ID with you ;)
Brilliant hotel - thank you for our stay.
Great location - everything else, eh.
Laura AMesa, Arizona | Oct 15, 2015 | Trip type: Couples
I selected this hotel because of its proximity to the Forbidden City - I did not want to mess around with the public transportation system in Beijing, and had heard that Westerners have a hard time getting picked up in taxis (a fact that was proven by the dozen or so taxis that stopped, saw we were Westerners, and drove away laughing or grimacing).
From a location standpoint, you can't beat it if you purpose is to visit the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square, as it was ours. It was a quick ten minute walk, and we were in the heart of the Square. The rest of our trip was set aside for the Great Wall - the hotel offers tours, but we had already hired a private driver, so I can't comment on those except to say that they appear to be available.
The Front Desk staff speak very little English. There is one woman who seems to have the best mastery of English who we happened to work with the first day, but if she was not around, it was very difficult to communicate. I asked for their assistance in ordering pizza delivery for us one night and it turned into a rather big party, as it took five of us to get it figured out. Thankfully, it worked! :)
The room itself is very dated, and the bathroom was very underwhelming. Very few towels, no soap, and the towels were so old they barely dried your skin anymore. The TV was set up on some sort of system where you could only select certain channels and certain movies, but when you clicked on a movie to watch it, a different movie came up.
Also, our hotel room had nice big windows, but when you opened up the blinds - our room overlooked the balcony of someone's private home. And those folks loved sitting outside all day! So, we had to keep the blinds closed at all times.
Overall, I would not recommend this hotel.
