I will be arriving earlier/later than the stated check-in time. Can I still check in?

Usually this is not a problem; you can arrange for an after-hours check-in with most hotels. However, you should always confirm with the hotel. You can use the "Special Requests" box in the booking process to inform them of your estimated arrival time in writing. It's important to remember that the property can't always accommodate these requests. It's always best to check with the property directly and in advance to avoid confusion. You can contact the hotel directly by calling them, the local telephone number you can get from Nehow's Local Guide after you finish the booking.

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

A late check-out can only be arranged with the hotel and usually depends on availability at the time of your stay. You can ask about the possibility at the front desk upon arrival.

  • Beautiful hotel!

First class hotel. Large beautiful rooms, spotlessly clean. Modern spacious bathrooms.
Great breakfast. Good value for the money. The only suggestion we have is regarding the front desk staff. They are very friendly but clueless. Their English is poor and the knowledge of the area is very poor. We asked to point out the hotel on the map which took 3 people to do (on the map which they gave us). We were unable to get any suggestions as to places to see.

Generally a good stay, and the hotel is close to the Beijing Railway metro station. There's not much around it in terms of restaurants, but it's as very standard Marriott. The rooms were very clean, but the lighting could be better. Had a small problem with the shower door not closing.
Staff VERY friendly at the front desk. Hotel bar staff quite rude.

  • Good Stay- Limited English Spoken

Interesting, big hotel, large guest rooms and huge common spaces. Looks very grand but function is off. None the less, we had a very nice stay. We had access to the Executive Lounge- which was a lifesaver! We enjoyed an enormous array of foods eastern and western served for breakfast, and happy hour with enough foods to make a light supper. Good location to walk to railway and taxis are readily available.
The biggest drawback for some may be the lack of English spoken here- Be patient. They were able to help us. Staff was friendly.

but our room's safe was broken and it didn't been fixed as long as we stayed.

  • Impressive facilities but confused execution

New York | Sep 18, 2015 | Trip type: Family

This Marriott is a conundrum. It's a huge, impressive facility of beautiful stone and dark wood, but it's a confusing mess. Here are some examples out of many: (i) when entering the hotel, there is a stadium-sized lobby/lounge, but the check-in desk is tiny, creating delays, (ii) supposedly an international hotel, the only staff I found that spoke English were two at check-in, (iii) they play techno/EDM over the speakers at early morning breakfast, (iv) the in-room bathrooms are beautiful, but (a) are lit in such a way that you have to shave/put on make-up cast in dark shadow (the lights are behind you when facing the mirror), and the side vanity mirror which could have helped is placed in a way that it's useless, (b) the floor of the shower is lovely stone, but it's highly polished and very slick and dangerous when wet, never mind when it gets soapy, and (c) on the ceiling there was a crudely cut-out maintenance hatch with a full dirty handprint, (v) a 24-hour convenience store in the lobby (which is in itself a little odd), randomly (at least it seemed to us) closes before 6PM, (vi) signs for restaurants that don't seem to exist inside the hotel, (vii) the few staff that we ran across avoided looking at us and consistently tried to ignore us as much as possible, and (viii) directly below our window we looked down on a slum roof full of garbage and hanging laundry. Individually, none of these would have mattered much, but overall and together with lots of other small issues, made it seem that the hotel does not know how to execute like a high-end international hotel. It felt like just the shell of a luxury hotel.
We had the morning buffet for each day of our stay, and we were provided with a good variety of western and eastern food. The food was ok, if not noteworthy. The serving staff was polite, if mostly inattentive (except on the days when a manager-type was in attendance). The dinner buffet was outrageously overpriced, and if I recall, the per person cost was close to the cost of staying a night at the hotel. We passed.
There did not seem to be anything worthwhile within walking range of the hotel, and no worthwhile restaurants nearby, either. We tried one that was recommended to us by our guide as the best in the neighborhood, but we would not recommend. The neighborhood is an odd mix of large modern buildings and run-down hutong. Nearby is the Beijing Railway Station, which apparently is a famous gateway for new Beijing transplants, but it turned out to be just a crowded outdoor plaza where people wait for trains - not a fun place to visit. Also, at the time we went, it was heavily occupied by assault weapon-toting soldiers on elevated platforms, SWAT team members, and K9 units. Directly across from the station is a small group of local stores, which seem designed mostly to sell snacks and gifts to the station patrons. There is an indoor mall near the station, called the Henderson Center, which was open, but completely deserted when we went. Not sure whether it's usually empty, but perhaps on that day it was because of the scanning check-points on the sidewalks and the armed soldiers and police roaming nearby. In any event, the emptiness and silence was creepy, so we left without really looking around.
Overall, I think this is an ok base for people who can speak Chinese and are comfortable dealing with the various forms of transportation in China, but this is not a good hotel for people who expect to have good amenities and attractions within walking distance.
