I will be arriving earlier/later than the stated check-in time. Can I still check in?

Usually this is not a problem; you can arrange for an after-hours check-in with most hotels. However, you should always confirm with the hotel. You can use the "Special Requests" box in the booking process to inform them of your estimated arrival time in writing. It's important to remember that the property can't always accommodate these requests. It's always best to check with the property directly and in advance to avoid confusion. You can contact the hotel directly by calling them, the local telephone number you can get from Nehow's Local Guide after you finish the booking.

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

A late check-out can only be arranged with the hotel and usually depends on availability at the time of your stay. You can ask about the possibility at the front desk upon arrival.

  • Near metro & Olympic Stadium
Shanghai, China | Oct 31, 2015 | Trip type: Business

Stayed there 12 nights. You can tell when the ownership is in as two of the Mercedes (car & SUV) are prominently parked at the entrance. Your typical pathetic Chinese show off style. I guess the owners are not so rich, otherwise Bentley or a Royce would be there.
What greeted me there was a re-tiling of front entrance. That went smoothly - only two days. Then they started to build some steel structure 3 meters from entrance that was later covered in tiles and wood. Heavens only knows why as it only blocks the entry to hotel. They should better clean oily stains from the slate tiles leading to the only two elevators (10 floors, so imagine how long you can wait for the elevator).
Reception quite polite, with the usual little English language skills (which is baffling considering the proximity to the Olympic Stadium & a number of international guests staying there). I guess the owners care more about their puny Mercedes cars than guests.
"Free breakfast" is a free breakfast. Seen better (& worse in China). On one side of the serving alley You get two kinds of cerials, an ice (that turns into water) where you have your typical "western" style salad bar (or what Chinese Holiday Inn Express consider western salad bar) with your staple cut red cabbage (where the heck they got this idea from is beyond me) and a couple of dressings. Then there are three leaky containers with coffe, black tea and milk (they put plates under spouts to catch the mess but then you can't fill up your large coffee cups they provide).
The other side features made to order noodles (a very nice touch that is quite common in Chinese HIE), two types of steamed mini buns (bought frozen), then two types of green leafy vegetables (boiled, so no taste to them), steamed yam, boiled corn, three types of breads (sliced white, mini croissant of suspected freshness & a mini cake that imitates a muffin) butter, margarine, jam and a stand where a guy fries eggs on hot plate. However, they only know how to fry it well done (not easy over or sunny side up). During my first four breakfasts, they did not have an ounce of meat for breakfast - guess the owner was behind on his Mercedes payments. Then the sausages showed up for the next three days (actually, different ones on day two!) that were also warmed up on the hot plate next to eggs. Then there was a day without sausages & afterwards only one kind of sausages was available for the remaining of my stay.
So, unlike your American Holiday Inn Express (or European ones), the free breakfast is really nothing to write home about.
The room was very clean, although the glass to bathroom was cracked. Your typical poor maintenance in China. Three English language channels that you actually have to press Channel 1 (CNN), 2 (HBO) & 3 (Star Sports) to get it, as browsing up and down on remote will never call up these channels (probably, so the Chinese audience is not spoiled by capitalistic propaganda). Your typical hard beds, little round table and arm chair compliment the build in desk with office chair. Wi-Fi is very good, considering that it is China. Western visitors, get yourself a VPN, or your Gmail, Google, Facebook or Twitter will not be accessible (but that goes for the whole of China).
If you use laundry service, you get your shirts on hangers, even if you write on the order sheet that you want them folded. Better get to front desk and explain to them ahead of time what you want.
Location is decent - 5 minute walk to metro station. Next to hotel you'll find a run down mall with a lot of discounted clothing stores. They really got some good quality sporting goods at very reasonable prices (50% cheaper than in stores). There is also a local grocery store (RT Mart) there, McDonalds and four local restaurants with pictured menus so even if you don't know a word of Chinese you can have a meal (for about 1/3 of the price of the one at the hotel).
The weekend that I stayed there was a wedding reception. Of course, Chinese style, guests were not informed ahead of time, so by midnight I had to use my ear plugs to get some sleep. The next day was the same. Not impressed with this at all. Common sense would dictate just a short letter to guests asking for understanding. At least I would have planned my evening differently.

I have been here many times. Hotel really improved during the last three years. Breakfast is far better than before. Rooms are proper and for the price pretty good. Internet is compared to other Chinese hotels pretty fast. Metro Station with good access to the city nearby. Olympic stadium 10 min by feet away.

    Sep 14, 2015 | Trip type: Business

The location was good in relation to where I was doing business.
The hotel served breakfast, included in the room charge. The breakfast was not encouraging for me to get up in the mornings.
The room was fairly clean but needed a new mattress.
The front desk staff were pleasant.
There was no nice scenic view from my room or three other rooms I visited in different areas of the hotel.
The rate was well worth the experience.

  • Good stay if you want to be near The Birds nest Stadium or the Aquatic centre.
    Gert V
Den Bosch, The Netherlands | Sep 4, 2015 | Trip type: Friends getaway

I stayed for 10 days in this hotel because of visiting the World Championships Atletic.
The hotel is very good situated for this. A simple walk for the stadium in 35 minutes inclusive secirity etc.No trouble with cars, there are separated walking paths.
The hotel staff doing her best but is most unusual that
The room is quite big, bathroom is sufficent and the staff is cleaning the room and the isles every day.
Breakfast is good only 100% the same every day and the person who is doing the eggs only knows 1 way, hard and very well done.
Also strange is that the terras colses every night at 23.00 and that you are advised to find a cold beer in the supermarket around the corner.
    Music was still Christmas songs.

The holiday Inn expres service provided me with a good clean room, and staff was nice. I only stayed for one night. Bought a lunch, which you could better buy somewhere else fr that money, and the breakfast was apart from eggs and bread very Asian. Had some doubts before I came here due to some negative reviews I read here, but all in all there were no problems.
