I will be arriving earlier/later than the stated check-in time. Can I still check in?

Usually this is not a problem; you can arrange for an after-hours check-in with most hotels. However, you should always confirm with the hotel. You can use the "Special Requests" box in the booking process to inform them of your estimated arrival time in writing. It's important to remember that the property can't always accommodate these requests. It's always best to check with the property directly and in advance to avoid confusion. You can contact the hotel directly by calling them, the local telephone number you can get from Nehow's Local Guide after you finish the booking.

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

A late check-out can only be arranged with the hotel and usually depends on availability at the time of your stay. You can ask about the possibility at the front desk upon arrival.

  • Friendly hotel in a great location

Staff were very helpful - attractive decor and quiet courtyard although there are bars around. Room is comfortable and reasonable size altho the glass panels around the bathroom are a little bit strange. The location is in the middle of the Do gcheng hutongs and there are interesting streets with nice little bars and coffee shops within 15 mins walk towards the Lama temple and towards Nanluogui Hutong too - supermarket, and all kinds of shops on the main roads at either end of the hutong. The hotel arranged a driver for us to the Great Wall and to the Summer Palace - picked us up at the door; also arranged a taxi to take us to the airport.- we hadnt found this so easy elsewhere. Also the Lama temple itself and the Confucious temple are top sights and an easy walk from the hotel. Its close to a metro station too. We really liked the feel of the place.

Great place to stay. Reasonably priced and vibrant environment to observe how the locals live. Great street food cooked and served up around the corner. Close to subway and buses to get around. Staff are the biggest asset.

The hotel amenities and location are perfect for a few days in Beijing. The area is one of the most interesting and the hotel is surrounded by a lot of nice places to eat. We really enjoyed the very inexpensive and yummy home made buffet breakfast and all the other the hotel services as free tea all day. Was very cold when we were in Beijing but the hotel was warm and cosy. The room was always cleaned and the reception staff even if doesn't speak much English helped us sort out the tickets to the Palace museum and have been the most helpful. The only minor adjustment I would do is to the bathroom layout but as said for few days and thanks to all the other pluses this is just a minor point.

  • Highly recommended budget choice with excellent staff and breakfast

This hotel is clean and comfortable with an excellent bed and a great shower. The room provides two small bottles of water everyday, as well as a small tin of hand cream, shampoo and a toothbrush/toothpaste. The staff is quite helpful and called a taxi for us when we had an early morning train.

Breakfast, which you have to pay for (not expensive) is excellent, with lots of hot and healthy choices---getting filled up so well in the morning really helped us out!

The hotel is about 10-15 minutes walk from the llama temple train station, which provides good connections to the airport express as well as to the rest of the city. (We asked the hotel in advance for directions which was a good idea or we may have gotten lost). There are many food options and a supermarket within walking distance and the neighborhood is cute and it was quiet at night

The bathroom is enclosed in glass, giving no privacy.

We stayed in two separate rooms: one at the beginning and one at the end of our trip. The WiFi, which was free, did not work well in one of the rooms.

At about 345 yuan a night for a double I would highly recommend this hotel as a fine value budget option!

We were really pleased with the Nostalgia Hotel. I found it hard to choose a hotel in Beijing as I didn't know what to expect or what price would be reasonable, but I'm happy I chose this one!

The location: this was one of the best things about this hotel. It's in a bustling part of Beijing, full of shops, restaurants and great street food, but the hotel itself is in the middle of a hutong on a quiet courtyard. There are a couple of excellent bars nearby but the double-glazed windows on the rooms mean that the bar noise doesn't disturb you. The only downside is that while all the locals know where this hutong is, lots of taxi drivers aren't local and might struggle. It can be hard to find if you first arrive in the dark and don't have a local taxi driver. It's fine in the day because the hutong is clearly signposted, including in English.

The room: very clean and cosy. As other reviews have mentioned, the glass walls on the bathroom take some getting used to, but there is a screen you can put down for some privacy.

The facilities: wifi was patchy (which is the norm in Beijing) but other facilities were good. There was lots of attention paid to small details, like providing bottled water and yoghurt daily in the room, and bilingual maps of the local area. We also particularly enjoyed the vintage video games in the lobby!

The breakfast: a buffet with a good mix of Chinese and Western options. Nothing wildly exciting, but at 20 rmb per person (approx £2.30) it was very reasonable. As above, there are lots of restaurant options nearby if you want something more substantial.

The staff: so friendly and helpful. Everyone had at least a smattering of English, so we were able to communicate everything that we needed.

Overall, this hotel felt like an oasis of calm and relaxation, and I'd strongly recommend it.
