I will be arriving earlier/later than the stated check-in time. Can I still check in?

Usually this is not a problem; you can arrange for an after-hours check-in with most hotels. However, you should always confirm with the hotel. You can use the "Special Requests" box in the booking process to inform them of your estimated arrival time in writing. It's important to remember that the property can't always accommodate these requests. It's always best to check with the property directly and in advance to avoid confusion. You can contact the hotel directly by calling them, the local telephone number you can get from Nehow's Local Guide after you finish the booking.

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

A late check-out can only be arranged with the hotel and usually depends on availability at the time of your stay. You can ask about the possibility at the front desk upon arrival.

First be realistic. If you are staying at the HIE Dalian City Center, you should be on a business trip. It is not well located for the recreational or scenic or historic parts of Dalian. That said, it is a pretty nice hotel. I spent over two weeks here and I have to say I was quite satisfied.
My room was large and clean and well serviced. The bathroom was clean, worked well and had a walk in shower as well as a tub/shower. The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning worked well. That is important because Dalian (think Boston) is humid with summer daytime temperatures in the 80’s.
Dalian reminds me of Barcelona. I did get a chance to take a bus tour, but it was in Mandarin. Fortunately, I had an interpreter. Lots of the city was nicely renovated for the Olympics, there are historical places and there are places that still need renovation. Much of the area around the hotel still needs renovation. However, there is a nice pedestrian mall next to the hotel that leads up to a modern shopping center (with KFC, Subway, McDonalds and Starbucks if you need home).
Breakfast is included and I was satisfied. Fruit is limited to bananas and watermelon, but for Western taste, there are fried eggs, toast, cereal and yogurt. And there are many Eastern choices – porridge, steamed vegetables, salads, fried rice, noodles, etc. And some strange items, like chicken nuggets and baked beans but to each there own. Who doesn’t like a fried egg, chicken nuggets and noodles for breakfast. We had lunch served every day as part of the meetings and it was an exceptional mix of Chinese dishes every day. The hotel has two restaurants, but I did not use them except for breakfast and the catered lunches.
The staff is very attentive and most speak enough English to handle most matters. We overcame lost luggage, a room safe that wouldn’t open and laundry but I never was able to make an international collect call from my room.
One general warning – Google does not work in China. And that means all of your neat apps like Google maps and Google translate do not work either and you cannot get to Google Play to load new apps, so plan ahead!

  • A good hotel, convenient to shopping

Guangzhou, China | Aug 24, 2015 | Trip type: Business

Fairly standard branded business hotel offering. The building seems older and refurbished, but the room furnishing is reasonably up to date. An acceptable place for a business-trip stay: working internet, comfortable room, nearby shopping and some dining options.

  • Good value, great location.

Due to an unfortunate series of mistakes on part of the airline , my luggage arrived damaged and wet. I went to the staff with my problem and they quickly found a washing machine for me to use, and helped me get into contact with the airline responsible, thereby saving my vacation . They were considerate ,friendly, and professional the entire way, and I would definitely stay again.

    Centrally located.
Avoid the smoking floors, but even non smoking floors one of the rooms had the aroma of cigarettes.
    Rooms ok but basic.
Poor breakfast. Didn't try the evening buffet meal. There is a small Japanese restaurant on the road if you turn left out of the entrance that sells nice food.
There was cards pushed under the room door offering massage services.
WARNING. Upon check out, the staff are extremely slow on returning credit cards, for whatever reason. This resulted in me forgetting to collect my card before departing, my fault really, but they saw me leave and did not stop me. No credit card fraud had taken place though by the time I received my card back. This was not isolated and they were slow in returning the cards to all members of my party on two visits.
