I will be arriving earlier/later than the stated check-in time. Can I still check in?

Usually this is not a problem; you can arrange for an after-hours check-in with most hotels. However, you should always confirm with the hotel. You can use the "Special Requests" box in the booking process to inform them of your estimated arrival time in writing. It's important to remember that the property can't always accommodate these requests. It's always best to check with the property directly and in advance to avoid confusion. You can contact the hotel directly by calling them, the local telephone number you can get from Nehow's Local Guide after you finish the booking.

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

A late check-out can only be arranged with the hotel and usually depends on availability at the time of your stay. You can ask about the possibility at the front desk upon arrival.

  • Excellent accommodation without breaking the bank
Port Elizabeth, South Africa | Dec 23, 2019 | Trip type: Family

This a a good hotel choice for families. Well situated on Shamian Island with plenty of safe parks and interesting photo locations and statuettes to satisfy selfie addicts. Rooms are comfortable and some with interleading doors for larger families. Due to their new eco policy, bathroom extras such as toothbrush, toothpaste, shoe cloths etc are no longer provided but can be requested at front desk. Staff are friendly and helpful and some can converse in English quite adequately.

  • Easy stay
Clare, Australia | Nov 26, 2019 | Trip type: Couples

Pleasant staying here. Lovely location on Shamian island. Easy walk to have coffee overlooking Pearl river or view morning Tai chi groups exercising
Across towards the old town via overpass within short distance you find many mid range to cheap restaurant. Just around corner from victory hotel nice noodle bar.
Not so good on tourist information but there was always one staff member on the service desk who spoke passable English. Free WiFi although remember in China you can't access google or non chinese news channel. Download google maps china offline before you arrive.

  • Great Hotel in a great location
    Auckland, New Zealand | Oct 8, 2019

This is a great hotel-clean spacious rooms with generous bathrooms. It was very quiet at night, which for exhausted travellers was wonderful. The breakfast was also very good and a wide selection of food to choose from. Helpful, welcoming staff. We will stay again as the hotel was located on an island which is an historic precinct. The historic buildings were well preserved and provided a welcome insight into 19th century 'Canton'. As the island was an historic precinct there were no tourists at night and no cars (pedestrians only)-so it was very quiet at night. Lovely little cafes and restaurants, which overlooked the river. Old Canton and new Guangzhou a really delightful place to visit and stay.

  • Swelegance
    Yasothon, Thailand | Oct 4, 2019

I had been wanting to stay at this hotel for nearly 10 years after a colleague raved about it and I am so glad that I finally made it. First the location is perfect being on Shamian Island but be warned that there are two branches called East Wing and West Wing. I saw some recommendations to stay at the West Wing as it's more historic so I chose the West Wing. The breakfast was excellent with many choices, a great setting and very comfortable seating. Good coffee also.
The room itself was very good, clean and with nice extras. Surprisingly for China, the bed was soft. The numerous light switches are totally confusing and need some labelling. The bathroom was great and included a bath.
The service was superior especially the bellhop and front desk and the level of English is generally good. I did find a nemesis in the dining room of the West Wing, the first time I arrived at 4.30 pm to check out the dinner menu and was told that the dining room was closing and there was no evening meal, only in the East Wing. The next day I went for lunch and was turned away again as there was a function it seemed. Finally I went to the East Wing to check out the 9th floor swimming pool, which is not that big, and had some difficulty getting a coffee due to lack of English.
All in all, a great hotel, excellent service but I wouldn't worry about eating here except for breakfast. The Macao Street restaurant, right next door is quite good for a varied Asian menu. Go to Lucy's in Shamian Park for good Western and international food.
    Historic, elegant, swelegant.

Additional Information about Guangdong Victory Hotel Guangzhou

    • The Guangdong Victory Hotel (Guangdong Shengli Binguan) is located on Shamian Island, formerly the European concession. The area, with all its colonial European buildings, leafy boulevards and shady parks, has been restored after the island's tumultuous history, transforming it into a Western paradise. Metro Lines 1 and 6 can be taken at Huangsha Station but a short walk from the island, facilitating guests’ commute around the city.

This Guangzhou hotel's guestrooms follow a fusion of Asian-Western styles and are designed to provide guests with all home comforts throughout their stay on the island. Each room offers all the standard amenities such as Internet access and in-room safes.

Dining options include Western and Chinese cuisines, each located in one of the hotel's two buildings. Buffet breakfast, a la carte items and room service are all available. A coffee shop welcomes guests in the vast lobby area.

Guests traveling for business can make use of the hotel's business center and its services, as well as conference rooms and a function hall, which can readily accommodate any event or meeting.

For recreation, guests should definitely go out and explore the island, but the hotel houses many enjoyable facilities including an elevated pool, a large billiards room, a fully equipped gym as well as a sauna and table tennis equipment.
