Great staff, great food and good location for amazing views!
thekerseysChelmsford, United Kingdom | Oct 13, 2015 | Trip type: Friends getaway
We travelled to Guilin to go down the river into Yangshuo. We got a taxi from the train station to the hostel and the staff at the hostel helped us so that the taxi driver didn't rip us off. The staff at the hostel were so friendly, helpful and welcoming and helped us organised the best tours for the cheapest price. The bar offered discount on drinks and was a really good atmosphere at night with a pool table, movie room, bbq and chill areas. It was the foreigner hotspot and seemed like everyone travelling to Yangshuo were staying here. They had special nights were you got traditional Chinese dumplings or bbq nights for 50yuan a person (you get so much food)! The regular menu was amazing with so much choice and some of the best western food I had eaten in China! Best English breakfast we ate while travelling and the milkshakes were incredible! The hostel was a little more expensive than others in Guilin but definitely worth the money! The staff (Wada girls) were so friendly, rooms were clean and the location was good for a short stay.
Fantastic Hostel with Amazing Breakfast!
jamesthomaswilsonOct 11, 2015 | Trip type: Friends getaway
Great hostel with excellent transport links! The rooms are clean and the beds very comfortable. Breakfast is amazing, particularly the maple pancakes which makes a real change when you have been in Asia for a while. The Longji Rice Terraced tour was good, although we would have liked a lot longer there for the amount of travelling required. Only disappointment was that my credit card had been charged for the full amount in advance of turning up and without my permission, though the staff were very apologetic. Would definitely stay at Wada again!

Only stayed the one night but what a fantastic little hostel. The Wada girls are fab and make you feel at home even if you arrive tired late at night. Would have happily stayed longer.
Also for those who do the DIY tour to the Longmij rice terraces do platforms 1 and 2 first then platform 3. Helpful tip!
Wada Great Place!
sadeeyorGlasgow, United Kingdom | Sep 24, 2015 | Trip type: Solo travel
As at Wada Yangshuo - and Guilin Central (see my reviews of these as comparison) - this hostel is one of the friendliest & comfiest in China.
Tiptop spick&span ensuite dorms outstanding value (a wee shelf by the reading light would have been helpful, but that's a minor thing).
Set well in from the main road, behind a screen of bamboo, so although the traffic din is still present, it's acceptably muted.
Really sociable common area, decent pool table, board games; a wee nook of a reading room as an offshoot; very pleasant outdoor patio: so caters for the main diversity of persuasions. (Though a can of Weissbier at Y25 is Y5 more than at Wada Yangshuo - slightly inconsistent.)
As at Yangshuo they have VPN so you can actually get Google, Youtube & Facebook! I'd forgotten these animals existed after 5 months deprivation.
Food is good in big portions.
But it's the smiling knowledgeable helpful Wada Girls that make it: Amy, Annie, Mandy, Bling-Bling Brolly, Hannah Panda-Piglit & the rest of the team. They ensure that your stay will be a happy one. Xie xie Ladies.
Nice place but DON'T DO THE BANANA BOAT TOUR!
LondonLoireLondon | Sep 23, 2015 | Trip type: Couples
We didn't actually stay here, but spent a fair bit of time in the bar, which is a great place to hang out. The food is excellent, especially if you've been on the road in China and are craving Western things. Mmmmm avocado. Salad. Pancakes!
The drinks are cold and cheap, and the company is good. There's a pool table, and a place to buy paperbacks.
One warning - we booked on the banana boat tour, and it was a mistake. It took a slow 2.5 hours to get there, of which 30 mins was spent parked in a petrol station, being upsold another tour. And there was no real tour guide, just a sales guy.
The hostel told us the coach would leave us somewhere we could catch a bus back to Guilin, but in fact the tour guide "forgot" about us (as we hadn't gone for the upsell) and it was only because I grabbed the guide and basically forced us off the bus that we didn't end up stuck in the middle of nowhere, or being press-ganged onto another tour!
The banana boat down the river itself was lovely, but definitely find another way to get there, not the tour.
