I will be arriving earlier/later than the stated check-in time. Can I still check in?

Usually this is not a problem; you can arrange for an after-hours check-in with most hotels. However, you should always confirm with the hotel. You can use the "Special Requests" box in the booking process to inform them of your estimated arrival time in writing. It's important to remember that the property can't always accommodate these requests. It's always best to check with the property directly and in advance to avoid confusion. You can contact the hotel directly by calling them, the local telephone number you can get from Nehow's Local Guide after you finish the booking.

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

A late check-out can only be arranged with the hotel and usually depends on availability at the time of your stay. You can ask about the possibility at the front desk upon arrival.

Very comfortable hotel in city center area. Great room, excellent wifi and wonderful breakfasts at reasonable price and without expensive excess. Three individuals traveled in our business group, each with their own room, each pleased with the hotel.

They upgraded me to a king suite, so the room was quite large.
From the airport you can take the #3 bus to very close to the hotel or get a taxi.
The pedestrian street is just across from the hotel and it is a five minute walk to the church square.

I spent hours trying to decide between the IBIS and this hotel. I can't vouch for the IBIS but was concerned about the reviews talking about excessive noise. Was concerned about Holiday Inn due to some of the bad reviews. There is no question about the great location -- Central Ave pedestrian street starts just across the street -- a wonderful place to walk without concern about traffic and plenty of shops and restaurants. The hotel itself was fine. I encountered none of the bad smells mentioned by some reviewers. I was upgraded to the executive floor (11) and had a view of the traffic triangle below. My room was at the end of the hallway and incredibly quiet at all times. The room was very spacious with a very nice bathroom and shower. The only reason I gave 4 rather than 5 stars is the carpet was worn. I would definitely stay here again if in Harbin. For runners, this is a great location for a morning run. Run about 1.5 K on pedestrian path down to river -- head south along the river for 3.5K (you may be able to go further but I turned around at bridge at that point) Incredible number of people exercising in the morning. Surface is stone virtually the entire way so a little hard on the body, but a 10K run in a big city with no cars to contend with was great.

Didn't expect much from this hotel except that our travel agent said it was a 3 star hotel BUT central to most of everything in Harbin (trade-off), and that is right: a tired, older hotel, but just across the street from the ZhongYang pedestrian street with loads of shops & restaurants, plus few blocks away, you can trace the old Jewish presence in Harbin from the plaques on buildings. It's also easy to find the hotel because it's blue.
Our room was small, with old furniture, dirty-looking carpet, and a TV that did not work until we called engineering. Within 5 minutes of our call, to the hotel's credit, 2 engineers arrived, fooled around with the TV for 10 minutes and fixed whatever ailed it. Breakfast was OK for Westerners, alho the number of dishes was small. The best part of breakfast was the free copies of China Daily. In-room Wi-fi worked well, altho it was slow. I think the room would have been depressing if we'd spent more time in it.
If we ever return to Harbin, I am sure we'd opt for a less convenient but better kept hotel.

  • Convenient Location, Overall Good Hotel

This was my first trip to Harbin, on business. Since I'm a IHG member, I naturally looked for a IHG hotel. Found the Holiday Inn online and read the reviews, as well as other colleagues have stayed here, so I decided to book here.
Hotel is about 45 minute from airport.
Location is great. Since I'm only gonna be in Harbin for a short time, a hotel near fun places is a major plus. So this hotel is directly across the street from the “Central Street” walking street. There are many people walking there, shopping, eating, or just hanging out. There was a band (classical music) playing on the side of the street. We were hungry, and saw their version of "night market", or mini beer fest areas, which have bunch of little vendors selling food, including scorpions. I saw 2 of these areas, they are outside, off to the sides of the main walking street, but they have a canopy over so the rain won’t hit you. I had a local famous food "red sausage", it was great. Then we spent most of the time eating at this kabob vendor, their lamb kabob was so good, for 10RMB each. I highly recommend trying lamb kabob here. They also serve Harbin beer, so its a good casual place with great food. My understanding is that if we kept on walking on this street, it will end at a river. And there is an island, a short boat ride away, to the island. But we did not get to the end of this walking street so I cannot really comment on this river or island. My 2nd night there was spent on a business dinner, so I didn’t have another chance to visit the surroundings. But again, my understanding is this hotel is located in the center of town.
The hotel itself is probably not very new. Lobby was OK, nothing fancy. Check-in was quick. People were friendly. The room was nicely appointed. You’d know it is not new, but they are updated and remodeled, so it looks modern enough. Room came with wifi, for the most part, it worked fine. Few times it was cutoff on my cell phone so I could not get online. But generally OK.
Breakfast buffet was OK for the price, with the typical western and Chinese flair. There is an omlette station. There is also a small station that cooks noodles, wonton, to order.
Price we paid wasn’t cheap, however. If you didn’t care for a US-name hotel, you can get a local hotel at less than ½ the price. But we did reserve it pretty late. So if I do visit Harbin again, I will stay here again, hopefully at a lower rate. I am giving it a 4-star, partly because of the price we paid for a Holiday Inn. But everything else I couldn’t complain. All in all, I do recommend it, mainly due to its location.
