I will be arriving earlier/later than the stated check-in time. Can I still check in?

Usually this is not a problem; you can arrange for an after-hours check-in with most hotels. However, you should always confirm with the hotel. You can use the "Special Requests" box in the booking process to inform them of your estimated arrival time in writing. It's important to remember that the property can't always accommodate these requests. It's always best to check with the property directly and in advance to avoid confusion. You can contact the hotel directly by calling them, the local telephone number you can get from Nehow's Local Guide after you finish the booking.

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

A late check-out can only be arranged with the hotel and usually depends on availability at the time of your stay. You can ask about the possibility at the front desk upon arrival.

  • A Wise Choice for a Sanya Stay
    Gold Coast, Australia | Oct 26, 2015

After comparing the Hilton Sanya, the Marriott Sanya and the Sheraton I can recommend the Pullman Sanya and the Wise Choice. This is because of the value-for-money Villas on offer at the Pullman, which for the same cost you can only get a regular room at the above mentioned hotels. The staff communicated by email prior to our arrival that I would be upgraded due to my Accor Advantage membership to a Majestic Villa. This meant that we had a Two Bedroom (self contained in two buildings) surrounding our huge private swimming pool. A simple call to reception and a gold buggy was sent to take you to the lobby, as all Hotels in Yalong Bay, Sanya occupy massive grounds. The Hotel itself is a little dated, but ongoing renovations assure you of the Hotel being returned to its former glory. For the rest of the guests at the Hotel there are many swimming pools, slides etc. Fully equipped Gym, Spa Treatments, a Couple of Shops and Three restaurants. Sanya being part of the Hainan Province means that it is the preferred Holiday destination for the well-heeled Chinese and is almost a 'best kept secret' from the rest of the World, so the number of non-chinese is quite small, as a result there is a language barrier, as very few staff can speak English, however the staff at the Pullman are far and above the other Hotels in their welcoming attitude, friendliness and always willing to assist. Special mention goes to the very professional and helpful Alice, Restaurant Manager and Asst. Restaurant Manager, Jack and also to Boa on Reception, but overall the staff are very good. It is a shame that the Chinese Guests feel that Chinese Staff at Hotels are beneath them and treat them as if they are second class citizens. These Chinese Guests should hang their heads in shame for the way they treat their own people. Everything is expensive in Sanya so you would be well advised to ensure you have an Accor membership where we received a 50% discount for all meals. A comparison is Lunch at Hilton Sanya = $AU178 compared with Dinner at Pullman (Peking Duck) = $AU10. I should point out that the Duck wasn't on the menu but Alice made it happened at our request. I can thoroughly recommend a stay at the Pullman Sanya at Yalong Bay and thank all the Staff for giving us a great holiday!

  • Relaxing short break
    Julie G
    Shanghai | Aug 7, 2015

Just returned from three nights in Sanya staying here. Two of us travelled, hoping for a peaceful time lounging around the pool. And that's just what we got.
The Pullman is cheaper than some of the other hotels along this stretch (the Ritz Carlton etc). It's not on the beach side of the road but that didn't worry us. We just wanted a pool. It's a large well maintained pool with lots of nooks. The large slide slope thing is an interesting feature, but be sure to slide down on an inflatable. My friend tore her swimsuit on a sharp tile.
There's a shuttle bus if you want to go to the beach (nice beach). Takes five minutes.
It wasn't a busy time to visit, so we didn't have a problem getting sun beds and parasols but the hotel needs to add more of these for busy times.
Our room was large and everything we'd expect. It smelt of damp when we first arrived, but we didn't notice this after a while. Probably the humidity.
We weren't really clear about the food options in the hotel (and there aren't many non-Chinese options outside the resort). We didn't want the large buffet on offer and it took a while to realise that the bar had a menu of other choices. Perhaps this could be placed in rooms?
The food itself, though not going to set the world alight, was pleasant enough. Cocktails are cheap compared with Shanghai and London. The bar was ridiculously hot though and open to every mosquito. Some fans were definitely needed.
Staff are wonderful. They are attentive and very very helpful. Our Chinese is poor but English speaking staff were quickly found for us. The high point is the customer care. And that makes me want to return.
Taxis are cheap, clean and well driven. Shanghai taxi drivers please note: it is possible.

  • Great Villas
Beijing Region, China | Jul 12, 2015 | Trip type: Couples

We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa, Myanmar style. Villas are big, clean and nicely decorated. Common areas are very nice as well. Slow check in. We stayed 4 nights and they gave us discount vouchers for spa/restaurant only one day before leaving.

  • Wonderful place to stay, so long as nothing goes wrong...
    Jul 8, 2015 | Trip type: Family

We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa, where the hotel has managed to create a feeling of space and privacy while still being on the main strip of Yalong Bay. I agree with other reviews that the villas are a bit run down in places with peeling paint, marble floors beginning to crumble etc, but they are lovely rooms so it's easy to overlook any cosmetic issues. Our villa had a private pool and it was clean and a lovely temperature. The main pool is also gorgeous and has some lovely shady places (although it is a bit deep for shorties like me!). We didn't use the beach much as the rickety sandbag stairs down to the sea were a bit daunting when carrying a wriggly baby, but what we saw of it was nice. The kids club is small with a slide, ball pit and a few toys, which my toddler loved. I did find it to be a little dirty; I had to clear up a couple of dead cockroaches and there was a deceased butterfly there for the full week we were there, but it's a minor point (and the butterfly was very pretty…).
The hotel restaurants are of a very high standard and also child friendly with high chairs and a great kids menu. If you fancy a change you can easily walk to the other hotels or take a 5 min taxi to an area with local restaurants (avoiding the seafood scams of course!).
The hotel staff are almost without exception warm and kind. I would particularly like to thank Jack, Gary, Alice and Becky in the restaurants and Phoebe on front desk for always being so friendly to us and especially to our daughter.
However, our trip was not without incident. It began when we landed at the airport... We had treated ourselves to a hotel transfer, but although the driver was there, there was no sign of the car. My limited Chinese was not up to working out where it was and to start with no one at the hotel could help, so we just aimlessly hung about with the driver, with no idea what was going on. In the end it transpired that we had to get in a taxi to take us to where the car was waiting, but the taxi driver would not take such a short fare so we gave up and just took the taxi all the way to the hotel. In the Pullman's defence we were met with huge apologies and given a free transfer back to the airport on our departure, which was a real luxury.
When we got to our room neither the cot nor the foam bedding we had requested were there. However, housekeeping sorted it out within an hour or so of our arrival.
Before we arrived I had been trying to pre-book a babysitter. This had been a bit tricky as there were 2 people responding to my emails, one saying the hotel did not provide babysitting, and one saying that they did. In the end they decided that it was provided and sent through the rates for my booking. Unfortunately, on arrival there was no record of my booking and I spent our first afternoon and the following morning trying to confirm it. Eventually it was arranged, but the price I was quoted was double the rate that had been emailed to me. When I showed the email at the front desk they did check for me and they honoured the original pricing, but surely this should be standardised?
On our first night we tried calling for room service. No one was answering the phone so we called guest services. It took over an hour for them to find someone to take our order. A couple of days later my husband wanted to order some lunch. Still no answer on the room service line, so he called guest services again. This time no one called back at all so he gave up and ate some crisps. However, the day before we left he finally got lucky and the food arrived quickly and was hot and tasty.
On the second night our toddler climbed out of the small travel cot provided (which she has never done before), opened her room doors (which only lock from the inside) and came and knocked on our bedroom door. This was terrifying as she had walked past the pool by herself. The next day I went to see the front desk to request a sturdier cot that she couldn't escape from. When I was told this was not available I suggested we downgrade to a 1 bedroom villa so she could safely share our room. I was told this was possible, but I would still have to pay for the 2 room villa (almost twice the price). I was surprised as I had booked on the hotel website, not a discount site, but I was told that because I didn’t book over the phone with the front desk I had not booked "directly", and so I had no rights to modify my booking, regardless of the circumstances. Of course it's all in the small print, but a little flexibility in this unusual case would have been appreciated.
On the fourth night our air conditioning broke and started to switch itself off every 3 hours. I went to the front desk at 9am the following day to ask for an engineer to come. We went out for the morning and when we got back after lunch no one had been to check it, so I asked again. Mid afternoon I went back to the lobby to follow up if anyone was coming, but still no-one could get hold of an engineer. I asked again around 5pm and at 7pm we were finally told that it was broken and we would have to move. After an intense negotiation for a couple of laundry bags to put things in (which we were told must be immediately returned - this seemed to be of the greatest concern!) we moved to a new villa and started to unpack. We soon realised it was a smoking villa as the smell of smoke was very strong. By now it was getting late, and our mood was not helped when we called to ask to move to a non-smoking room and we were told that someone would come over and "make our room non-smoking". We explained that this would not be ok and we would like to be in an actual non-smoking room. We then had to sit around for another half hour until we could move again. This was not a fun way to spend an evening.
The end of our holiday was a lot more relaxing than the beginning!
I know this review looks quite negative, but despite our frustrations we did have a lovely time. Having wandered through several of the other hotels along the strip, my husband and I agreed that we made the right choice to stay in the Pullman villas. It shows how nice it was that we had these issues and I still feel it deserves 4 stars.
