I will be arriving earlier/later than the stated check-in time. Can I still check in?

Usually this is not a problem; you can arrange for an after-hours check-in with most hotels. However, you should always confirm with the hotel. You can use the "Special Requests" box in the booking process to inform them of your estimated arrival time in writing. It's important to remember that the property can't always accommodate these requests. It's always best to check with the property directly and in advance to avoid confusion. You can contact the hotel directly by calling them, the local telephone number you can get from Nehow's Local Guide after you finish the booking.

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

A late check-out can only be arranged with the hotel and usually depends on availability at the time of your stay. You can ask about the possibility at the front desk upon arrival.

London, United Kingdom | Nov 13, 2015 | Trip type: Business

    Executive summary:
Review for the newly rebranded hotel - Crowne Plaza Sanya City Center (Previously Ramada Plaza).
Pros - Friendly staff, big clean rooms, decent location, efficient house keeping service, safe neighbourhood, free wifi
Cons - Very noisy due to poor noise insulation in the rooms, staff don't speak much English (somewhat surprising for a Crowne Plaza), odd design (hotel split between two towers, which are not as close as one would imagine)
Overall had a pleasant stay at this hotel. Would recommend if you are looking to stay in this area and is a heavy sleeper. Light sleepers should either request a quiet room or go for another hotel not facing a main road.
Top tip - ask for a room facing away from the main road. Rooms in Tower A are more convenient (unless you plan on using the gym or pool, then Tower B would be the preferred side)
    Thanks for a positive experience.

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights based on the good reviews on Tripadvisor, location and reasonable room rate. Upon arrival at the international airport, we were being approached by taxi drivers asking where we would like to go. As an airport staff was pushing my mom’s wheelchair and he told us these were black taxis, I disregarded them and walked out to where taxis were. None of the taxis had drivers sitting inside as apparently all went into the terminal to fish for tourists who could be ripped off. One driver told us the taxi charge would be RMB 80 despite signs inside the terminal which indicated fare should be between RMB 30-50. When I bargained, the guy said they waited at the airport for a long time. The airport staff said taxis leaving the domestic terminal across the road usually use meters. Luckily a taxi drove by and stopped after seeing me waved. The airport staff checked and the driver was willing to take us into town using the meter. The taxi fare to the hotel was RMB 49 and I gave the driver RMB 55 as an encouragement for being honest.
Checked in at the hotel was very smooth and quick. As my mom has a bit of mobility problem, I had requested a room closest to the lift and it would be most helpful if they could provide a plastic chair to be used in the shower. We were also being told that as breakfast was served in Café Marina in Block B, we could borrow a wheelchair if my mom could not walk down the steps. The room was very spacious (55 square meters) with a big balcony and 2 rattan chairs outside. We noticed there was also a brightly colored plastic chair being put inside the shower already. The room had an extremely nice view of the marina which I thought should belong to the higher pricing category. For classic rooms, they should be facing the city view at the back. However, major problem with these rooms from 08-21 in Block A was that they were facing the bridge with busy traffic and many drivers quite often were pressing their horns. Occasionally there was also loud music from the neighborhood. The hotel had a gym and a pool of average size. The pool had declining steps but would be better if there were handles leading the way into the pool. TV had 50 channels which included BBC, CNN, RT, Discovery Channel and HBO. Although there was free WiFi in room, the signal was cut off after the phone/equipment not in use for about 10 minutes. Due to media censorship in China, access to Google and gmail was restricted which made surfing the internet a big frustration. Suggest for other general information searching, use Sohu.com instead and the link was almost immediate. At night around 9:45 p.m., we once saw a light show from a group of building behind the hotel building.
Location of the hotel couldn’t be better because the First Market (seafood market) which also became night market in the evening was just approximately 500 meters away. By crossing the bridge on the right hand side and a leisure walk of about 15-20 minutes could bring guests to where all the activities were. One major problem with the hotel was the lack of information in English other than the hotel directory inside the room. There were leaflets advertising set menus for the Chinese and Japanese restaurants as well as spa packages but none were in English. There was an ATM in the lobby.
First evening we had BBQ buffet at the hotel as pricing was very cheap at RMB 138 and my mom was too tired to dine outside. Surprisingly inside the restaurant, General Manager Betty and Head of F&B Hunter introduced themselves to us. It turned out Hunter was requested by Betty to identify us among the guests so that special care could be given to my mom who is 80 years old. There were 3 fish tanks at the restaurant with live shrimps, shells and clams and all seafood could be made to order. The fried clams and shrimps were very delicious. Pity the BBQ oysters and clams were not in season and without meat. There was also Hainan chicken, Sashimi, Sushi, noodles and vegetables made to order. The long-cooked Chinese duck soup was also very delicious and even soft drinks were free of charge. Breakfast was very good including a bit of Japanese sushi, salad, various kinds of congees, western and Chinese food which was changed everyday. Noodles and egg corners could be made to order. The juices were good, especially the coconut juice which should be a local specialty. There were also around 6-7 kinds of fresh fruits. The bread rolls could taste better if there were an oven. English tea was not strong enough and not hot enough either.
We tried all three restaurants at the hotel. The Chinese/Chiu Chow restaurant did have set lunch menus for singles, double and 4 persons etc. A set with 3 dishes cost only RMB 68 and a set with 4 dishes cost only RMB 88 before cover charge of RMB 6 per person. For lady guests who were not big eaters, portion of the RMB 88 set was enough for 2. As for the Japanese restaurant, dinner was Sashimi, Sushi and Teppanyaki buffet at RMB 288 per person. For each guest, they could order 1 set of foie gras, 1 piece of cod fish, 1 big prawn and 1 baby abalone while all other items (except hand rolls) were unlimited. It was good value for money and their New Zealand tenderloin steak was very tender. Again here soft drink was included.
On our way back from the Japanese restaurant to our room at 10:30 p.m., we bumped into Betty and Hunter again. We were being told Betty lived in the hotel and basically was 24 hours on call after joining for just 4 months. As we could feel this management had a heart to serve and improve, we offered to have a short chat to share our thoughts where improvement could be made. We were being told upon receipt of our email enquiring whether there was a plastic chair to be used in the shower, Betty immediately gave instruction and told a staff to buy one for our use. The chair was even disinfected before being put into our room and this service excellence was highly appreciated. As a token of appreciation for the feedback we shared, Betty offered us a complimentary ride to the airport after we checked out the following morning. Just like the previous review from Mei Li, we did feel that the hotel tried to make every guest’s stay a comfortable, safe and enjoyable one. Wish the management and all staff more successful business in the competitive tourism in Sanya.

  • 5 Star - truly exceptional service in recovering lost luggage
    MeiLi-shopgirl
Beijing Region, China | May 8, 2015 | Trip type: Business

This is my second stay at Ramada Plaza Sanya. I had a distressing incident - after a long delayed flightI arrived at the hotel early 3.15am on 7May. Ms Guo Cheng was on night duty.
It has been a long day, my flight from Shanghai was extremely delayed and the cab driver did not switch on the meter! I had an argument with cab driver, left the cab without taking my luggage - cab driver drove off.
After checking in, I realised that the luggage was left in the cab. The bell captain and Guo Cheng immediately called taxi company. They checked CCTV to try to get cab number but the lights were too dim so we could not see the number although we have a visual of the cab and time. Guo Cheng kept me informed as the status of their follow up with taxi company and advised me to go to airport for their Taxi control CCTV tomorrow as there was not telephone pick up at night.
Next morning, I noticed Guo Cheng was still on duty. She was waiting for me and asked if I would like for her to accompany me to airport as I don't speak Putonghua well. In the cab to airport, we met a cab driver that was helpful and gave us information of the taxi control's GPS tracking. We were able to get the taxi number that picked me up.
At the airport taxi control room, we were able to access the CCTV, and saw the video recording of me walking into the queue and at the taxi. The airport taxi control officer was able to zoom in to look at the taxi number and verify it is the right number. He gave us a telephone number for taxi company.
Taxi company called Guo Cheng back later in the day (after she has gone off shift) to let her have the telephone number of drivers of both shifts. She called both drivers, told them that I have offered a reward but both drivers denied seeing the luggage.
I decided to make a police report and contacted Guo Cheng. She was on leave the next day, but was on call to assist. She sent me all the photos taken from m CCTV that showed the taxi number. She sent us telephone number of the drivers and evidence of her conversation with the drivers.
The police made a call to the driver - after a few telephone conversation, driver came to police station with my luggage.
It doesn't matter that I recover my luggage or otherwise - Ms Guo Cheng had taken ownership and responsibility to make my stay as convenient as possible by taking on the task and duty to contact the relevant people and follow up on my case. And the recovery was a bonus and I am very sure could not have happened without Guo Cheng's assistance and resilience in follow up.
As an aside, I also found out that Guo Cheng actually checked me in for my first Sanya stay about a month ago - so she remembered me from a previous stay.
She has made me a convert to Ramada Plaza for my visits to Sanya.
