I will be arriving earlier/later than the stated check-in time. Can I still check in?

Usually this is not a problem; you can arrange for an after-hours check-in with most hotels. However, you should always confirm with the hotel. You can use the "Special Requests" box in the booking process to inform them of your estimated arrival time in writing. It's important to remember that the property can't always accommodate these requests. It's always best to check with the property directly and in advance to avoid confusion. You can contact the hotel directly by calling them, the local telephone number you can get from Nehow's Local Guide after you finish the booking.

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

A late check-out can only be arranged with the hotel and usually depends on availability at the time of your stay. You can ask about the possibility at the front desk upon arrival.

We had a fantastic time at the Mandarin Oriental in Sanya with our 2 kids (3 and 6 years). The pools are clean, huge, and there are so many of them! The property is very well maintained, and is spread out. Which means that you don't have to see other guests while you are staying there. We probably only saw other guests at the breakfast buffet.
We were upgraded (thank you thank you thank you) to a suite, although we were not in the room most of the time as we lounged most of the day at the pool. the kids playroom is great for 6 years and under. if you have kids older than that, you might have to find other sporting activities for them.
The gym is very well equipped with technogym equipment that no one uses. While i was there maybe 2 other people used the gym. The service level is high, and really very excellent especially for a resort in China. the middle management are well trained, have little English, but between their half english and my bad mandarin, we communicated perfectly well. They can anticipate needs, which is impressive for China.
The food at the resort is good. especially the indian and Chinese food!
The only drawback is that the staff are unable to stop other guests from smoking (this is still China), which is particularly annoying when the smoking is happening in the rooms adjoining the kids play area. But the staff have assured us that they will try to change this in the future.
Tip: book directly with the hotel website for free wifi and other package perks.

Manadrin oriental is located about 40 mins from the airport. it is on a sprawling property and has plenty of activities on site that you really dont need to leave the hotel. The food at Fresh was amazing and for the quality and selection reasonably priced. The breakfast at the Pavillion was also tasty and had an extensive spread. All the staff speak good english The hotel and the food is a bit pricey but you will definitely have a good time. there is a shopping area nearby.

5 days of amazing experience staying in Mandarin Oriental resort.
We've arrived at evening time and the staff expect us with flowers and cold drinks for refreshments! After quick check-in process we're notified that part of our honeymoon we're upgraded to a spacious room with balcony to the ocean! The perfect upgrade for us :)
Due to the late time of arrival, beyond all decorations in the room which included roses, decorated towels, ready hot-tub with red roses and plenty of fruits with chocolate & Champagne!!! we're provided with room-service of hot chicken soup right away!
We definitely felt special and it was amazing atmosphere.
Breakfast buffet is AMAZING! plenty of food till Brunch time with all you can think of!
Traditional food, western food, French pastries and many more!
We loved that the staff welcomed us in a private good morning greeting.
Pools were quietly clean but seems like could be some improvements or some renovations all around the pool facilities (Jets, seats, rails, etc.)
We took 2 different free cooking class during our stay (chocolate/cookies & Noodles). Noodles lesson was perfect and a nice noodles dish was served after a very challenging & enjoyable lesson. Chocolate/Cookies wasn't the best one - Chocolate didn't came at the right temperature and the cookies we made without any oil caused to be stuck in the placement (as this is our personal hobby, we felt they need to work on this one).
Prices for lunch/dinner is semi-affordable and it isn't high quality or give any justice to the price! (even their declared "high quality" sea-food restaurant).
After getting to know more guests (local Chinese guests) we're advised to get a taxi to the city to a local restaurant and spare half of the money we would spend in a night inside the hotel. Although we didn't do it after all, I recommend people for at least one night to enjoy an evening out in the city.
Some of the staff were very friendly and during our stay at the sunset bar we enjoyed chit-chat with them. You'll notice some of the staff really respect you and give you a great feeling during your stay! this is definitely the attitude and more stuff should learn from him.
Don't miss the infinity pool near the noodles restaurant which has the best views to the ocean. The beach in the hotel isn't perfect (white sands, clean shore, more of rocky beach) but this is due to the location of the hotel.
Last issue we're facing was a problem with our key room. Every day (and even twice or more in a day) we're stuck outside our room due to a defect in the door card system. Sometime we ask the buggy driver to replace our card. However, sometimes we stuck at the very late time (23:00) when raining outside with no option to enter our room (buggy left immediately). I needed to walk all the way to the reception to get replacement while my wife was standing near the door in order not to get wet!
We got a replacement right away but this isn't definitely the way MO company should take care of this problem. On the second incident I'd expect some compensation.
At the last day, I couldn't stand it any more and asked to speak with the manager.
Couple of advises for the manager:
First, I'd not accuse the guest for not treat the card correctly and first say sorry about the incidents
Second, I'd find the perfect solution, even if we need to change to a different room
Third, a compensation (any kind of it) isn't a shame and the hotel should choose to do it right away without any hesitation.
Last but not the least, Make sure not to give the guests the feeling that it's their fault, I think smiling and saying sorry will convert the incident to a small bump!
end of story - asking for compensation - we received free taxi ride to the airport.
Overall, I'd recommend to visit the hotel because we're enjoy 90% of it.
Small incident won't cause us to give bad review but i'm truly sorry, we left with a bad taste and next time of a luxury stay, I'll try different brand before choosing MO for the second time.

Couldn't ask for a more relaxing stay! Fab happy hour at the Sunset bar and great sand bottom pool for babies. The pavilion room with plunge pool was a great choice as it gave us direct access to a bigger and basically private pool and beach! Only wish was for baby sitting services for babies under 3. We'll be coming back though!

  • Excellence comes as standard
Irvine, United Kingdom | Sep 9, 2015 | Trip type: Couples

Four of us stayed for 8 nights at the beginning of September. This is a well run and efficient operation which delivers top quality service. Both the GM and F&B Director are always available. Our stay was enhanced by the exceptional staff. We ate mostly in the Pavilion restaurant which is more suited to western tastes. If you can't find anything on the menu then the kitchen will try where possible to accommodate your needs. Service was always top notch, and what is perhaps most impressive was that the staff anticipate your requirements before you needed to ask. Particular praise to Alex, Alex from Ukraine, Cathy, Samantha and Jerry. Quality of the food was first class, with a great selection at all meals. Although the beach is limited, the excellent pools make up for this. Good quality rooms and fantastic WI-FI. All in all a great holiday. Without doubt a hotel I would return too.
