I will be arriving earlier/later than the stated check-in time. Can I still check in?

Usually this is not a problem; you can arrange for an after-hours check-in with most hotels. However, you should always confirm with the hotel. You can use the "Special Requests" box in the booking process to inform them of your estimated arrival time in writing. It's important to remember that the property can't always accommodate these requests. It's always best to check with the property directly and in advance to avoid confusion. You can contact the hotel directly by calling them, the local telephone number you can get from Nehow's Local Guide after you finish the booking.

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

A late check-out can only be arranged with the hotel and usually depends on availability at the time of your stay. You can ask about the possibility at the front desk upon arrival.

  • Solid Spot on the Bund
    Kasivia
Nanjing, China | Jul 25, 2018 | Trip type: Solo travel

Pros: Smooth check-in. Upgrade. Spacious room. Clean and modern. Decent breakfast. Kind and efficient service. Location right on the bund, Starbucks close.

Cons: Sketchy TV/Cable in room, mix-up with omelettes/ table bussing before I was finished at breakfast, tough to get a cab/DiDi (becoming typical in Shanghai generally), no plugs for charging near the bed (that I could find), no pool.

If you’re looking to stay on the Bund, this is a solid option.

  • 5 start comfort with good view of the bund
    smiling_mango

The room rates are fairly cheaper than the rest of the hotels along the bund, but it gives the same gorgeous view. We did not get the well raved river view rooms. At room 1002, we get to enjoy some part of the river view in the bathroom.

While there are many tourist crowding at the bund through the day, we were not affected by the noise or the crowd. Staying here is relatively peaceful. Lobby is located at level 3. We find the service crew were very courteous even though we were unable to get an early check in despite writing in earlier to explain our situation. Arrived at the hotel at 9am, after a red eye flag, but only managed to get a room at 1pm. We had some struggle trying to fan off our fatigue and dying to freshen up.

The breakfast spread was very good. They seem to have 2 different menus on rotation every other day. We changed our hotel to Ascott after a 4-days stay and really miss this hotel's breakfast.

Around the corner, there's a cafe "Shanghai Grandma Restaurant" that's apparently very famous and usually has long queues. We chanced upon it and find the food tasty.

The room was nice and clean. But the pillows are too soft for comfort. Even after layering 2 pillows, it's still very soft.

It being located right at the bund, means we get to go down and take a stroll at night. The building lights will turn off at 11pm. Best time to walk along the bund is about 10pm, where the tourist crowd got thinner, and the gorgeous lights are still on.

  • Amazing Location

When traveling to Shanghai, you will not find a better Hotel with regards to location, comport, and service than Les Suites Orient Bund Shanghai. The staff is amazing. The rooms are clean, updated, spacious, and very comfortable. Make sure to request a Bund Studio River room with the Shanghai sky line.
Their restaurant is very nice and they do make an effort to include western type meals. They do not have a bar. However, they offer a happy hour with free drinks where you can drink in a lounge area that they have overlooking the Bund.
As to location, it sits on the Huangpu river overseeing the Bund. You will be within
walking distance of the river tour boats, the Bund walk, as well as stores and restaurants with amazing night life. Safety not an issue, always felt very safe. However, like when visiting any large city, it’s always a good idea to remain vigilant and to stay within populated areas.

  • My expectations for this hotel were not met
    onomataho
San Francisco, California | Jul 25, 2018 | Trip type: Solo travel

I booked a 5-night stay at Les Suites Orient through booking.com. At the time I was staying at another nice Bund Hotel and wanted "splurge" a bit - location specifically. I selected a last minute "promo" rate and was given a lower end room.

At first, the room looked nice & had a partial view of the river, but with further inspection it was obviously well worn. The bed was old and uncomfortable, the woodwork dull, and bathroom tiles cracked. The air conditioning did not work properly and I quickly developed a cough. The w-fi barely worked and when it did was excruciating slow. An IT manager came by to check on it and I was informed that my room router was "reset." There was no improvement. And, most annoying, there was a sporadic high pitched whining noise (I eventually surmised after listening for awhile that it was the water pipes on the above floor). After two unsatisfactory nights, I asked, and was allowed, to move to another room.

The second room was much better (an "upgrade"), although again the AC did not work properly and the w-fi was sporadic. The water pipes in the room also made a strange noise.

In fairness, the hotel is in a great location. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet (included in the promo) was good, although there was minimal service. Surprisingly, the buffet was not completely set up 2 of the 5 mornings (at 7am) -- one morning there was a bad storm.

I was feeling better about the experience by the 5th day and arraigned for a later checkout (1pm instead of noon). That set up, I did some last minute sightseeing and returned to the hotel to pack. At noon I received a call asking why I hadn't checked out. I explained that I had set up the later time. Then I was called again at 12:45pm asking why I hadn't checked out. The second call was particularly annoying.

I am not a particularly fussy guest at hotels. Yet, I do believe this property could do a lot better.

  • excellent location period charm excellent value
    Princethorpe
Leamington Spa, United Kingdom | Jul 25, 2018 | Trip type: Couples

The hotel has an excellent location 10-15 mins walk from both Yu Yuan gardens and Nanjing road. The Bund with fantastic skyline inc pearl tower and the bussling Huangpu river is litteraly just across the road. This was the view from our room especially stunning when view lit up at night equally fascinating during the day watching the river traffic. This may be room and floor dependant. The hotel aims for period charm which it by and large achieves. Rooms are very clean and quite large(studio app). Blackout blinds were a useful feature. Huge bed. A liitle hard for us but were getting on a bit. TV mainly Chinese or CNN. PPV films available about 70Y. Internet not the fastest but it's free and adequate. Would be criminal to come to SH and watch a screen. Massive range of foods available for breakfast. Continental, cooked English, Chinese and cereals. Staff very attentive.
Arrival at the hotel is to the luggage door door then a 2 floor lift (very quick) to reception. Querky but not a problem. Check in is very quick. When you discover the lift behind the luggage reception you can by-pass the reception stop and lift change and go straight to your floor. There is a lounge you can use in the afternoon which is handy if you have an evening flight so you can kill some time in some comfort with free coffee and snacks available. The hotel will keep your bags safe till you actually leave. Evening meals at the hotel a bit pricey and western. Not too far away there is a restaurant selling frog stew. One of the best we've stayed in in SH. We did once stay at the Peace Hotel back in 85 that gushed period but that was before Fairmont took it over the price is now prohibitive.
