I will be arriving earlier/later than the stated check-in time. Can I still check in?

Usually this is not a problem; you can arrange for an after-hours check-in with most hotels. However, you should always confirm with the hotel. You can use the "Special Requests" box in the booking process to inform them of your estimated arrival time in writing. It's important to remember that the property can't always accommodate these requests. It's always best to check with the property directly and in advance to avoid confusion. You can contact the hotel directly by calling them, the local telephone number you can get from Nehow's Local Guide after you finish the booking.

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

A late check-out can only be arranged with the hotel and usually depends on availability at the time of your stay. You can ask about the possibility at the front desk upon arrival.

Good pricing, nice big room. Overall excellent service with a great location. Walking distance to Nanjing Road Walking Street and nearby attractions. This hotel is situated in an old neighborhood, great views and small eateries all around. Also a short distance by Didi to The Bund area and Xin Tian Di.

  • Pleasant hotel in good location

We enjoyed our stay here. Our room was on a high floor, which we were given as compensation for the fact that, although we had booked a double room and a twin room, they only had twin rooms left when we checked in. I liked the balcony-like feel of the window and the good view. The room was spacious and clean, with a decent bed and pillows.

It was an easy walk to Nanjing Road and the Bund, although the hotel is a bit tucked away and tricky to find if you weren't paying attention on your way out! Given the convenience of its location, it is surprisingly quiet.

The breakfast room is a bit small. However, the food on offer is of good quality. There is ready filter coffee in a jug, or really good coffee by the cup from a machine which brews to order.

The least pleasant part of the hotel is the lift. It has been designed with one glass wall, but the view is of nothing but dirt and dust and I think it would take major scaffolding and a few days to clean it.

I was tempted to give this hotel 4 out of 5, but the lift and the potential inconvenience of being unable to communicate in English with anyone led me to downgrade it. While we had no problem, I can see that the usefulness of the reception staff is greatly reduced if you can't communicate with them!

  • More quiet than being at the People's square

At a walking distance from the overcrowded People's square in Shanghai, close to some acceptable restaurants, nothing fancy, though. Very close to a metro station. The rooms are decent and clean. The staff helpful but most of them with poor knowledge of English and a certainly insufficient consierge. The pump of the shower gel at the bathroom was out of order.

I stayed here 4 nights as part of an organised tour. The hotel is down a back road, although it is within close walking distance to two subway stations ( lines 1, 8 and 12 ), and within walking distance ( about 2km ) to the Bund and closer to Pedestrian Street and Peoples Park.
The room was average size with a very comfortable bed ( the nicest I slept in all over China ). The TV turns on when you enter the room. There is tea/coffee and a kettle, toiletries, iron and ironing board, safe. The power points do not fit Australian plugs, which fit in many other places in China, so an adaptor is needed. There are two bay windows with opening windows. There is no clothes line in the shower, but you can attach a line across the window and due to the hotel orientation, you will get morning or afternoon sun and clothes dry really well.
The room was sort of divided into three - bed on one side, then bathroom with huge free standing bath, then on the other side a desk and chair. The shower area was large with toiletries included. Unfortunately, my bathmat was removed the first day and not replaced until my last night. The towels are a good size. Hangers provided in the cupboard.
The hotel provides a cash change machine, with no fee, in the lobby. Breakfast is provided from 6-30am. There is a reasonable selection of mainly Asian food. You need to use your room card to access the elevator.
While the hotel was generally okay, there were some things that I had some significant issues with, which has reduced my rating.
Wifi- advertised as free wifi but I only managed to connect once and the signal was so weak that I could not even open a basic web page. This was the only place in all my travels where the wifi was non existent.
Smell - the first night my room smelt of smoke. From day 2, it smelt of sewerage around the bathroom area. This was particularly noticeable when coming back in and the room heated up ( as the air conditioning shuts off when you leave ). This was most unpleasant.
Cleanliness - I am sure that the room was cleaned but there were stains that were rather unpleasant. There were old stains on the toilet seat and this was most unpleasant on arrival. The toilet seat really should be changed if stains are not going to come out. The floor looked dirty - not sure if this was the design of the tile or whether they had some slight cracks but either way, the floor looked dirty. There were obvious dirt marks under the bath as it was freestanding. One of the tiles under the window was broken.
Came back one evening to find 2 business cards shoved under the door, with pictures of scantily clad ladies on them. Could not read what they said but assume it was advertising some escort type service. Given one has to use a card to use the elevator, am not sure where these came from, but not what I was expecting.
Check in and check out was not an issue. Did not interact much with staff during my stay. There is a café onsite and convenience stores are close by. Despite being down an alley, did not ever feel unsafe walking back here at night.
Overall, the hotel was okay but the lack of wifi, the bad smell in the room and the unclean look in parts of the room detracted from my stay.

Adelaide, Australia | May 18, 2017 | Trip type: Friends getaway

We had stayed at the Kingtown Riverside whilst seeing the Port Power game in Shanghai in May.
Staff do not speak much english at all, that didn't seem to bother us as we tried our best to communicate. I also installed Google Translate before the trip which is a massive help!
The Bed was spacious and very comfy with arrange of different pillows. The shower/ Bathroom was awesome and thick fluffy white towels. I think for the price of the hotel room is a very good price. Head to the coffee shop downstairs for a drink and brilliant customer service. The hotel is a short walk to most of your main spots such as Peoples square. There is also a small shop down the road which serves very cheap beer. I think the only negative was the fridge was hot.We tried to get it fix but didn't bother us too much as we were out for most of the days.
