I will be arriving earlier/later than the stated check-in time. Can I still check in?

Usually this is not a problem; you can arrange for an after-hours check-in with most hotels. However, you should always confirm with the hotel. You can use the "Special Requests" box in the booking process to inform them of your estimated arrival time in writing. It's important to remember that the property can't always accommodate these requests. It's always best to check with the property directly and in advance to avoid confusion. You can contact the hotel directly by calling them, the local telephone number you can get from Nehow's Local Guide after you finish the booking.

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

A late check-out can only be arranged with the hotel and usually depends on availability at the time of your stay. You can ask about the possibility at the front desk upon arrival.

  • Exceptional Service, Marvelous Experience

I had breakfast this morning with my colleague at the Zest restaurant, we received a warm welcome from the hostess and the restaurant manager, Bastian, introduced us the buffet and escorted us to a very cozy seat. The wide selection of food was very delicious and every single staff greeted us with a great smile. Will, from service, made us feel very comfortable and with his genuine care all our wishes were fulfilled. The noodle chef as well, provided us an exceptional service. Highly satisfied with our experience at The Ritz-Carlton, Tianjin. Thank you very much to the whole team and special thanks to Bastian, Will, and the noodle chef for making the start of our day memorable.

  • Best Birthday Ever!
    Stuart B
Tianjin, China | Sep 4, 2015 | Trip type: Couples

My wife's birthday is very important to me, and so I entrusted the staff at The Ritz-Carlton Tianjin to make it a very special day for her.
Not long after we'd booked the room, Executive Chef Ornato Antunes contacted me to find out if there was anything he could do to help make her birthday unique. We discussed a couple of options, and he went away and put together an amazing cake for her, and arranged to have beautiful blue hydrangeas put on our table in Zest that evening.
When we arrived, we were greeted by Operations Manager Charlie Zha and Guest Recognition Manager Anna Wang, who got us checked in in record time - then informed us that they'd upgraded our room to a Suite on the Club Level!
The suite itself turned out to be bigger than our apartment, not making us feel so much as "at home" as "more than at home"! The bed had been decorated with rose petals that spelled out "Happy B'Day!", and even the bath had rose petals sprinkled in it. Someone had also arranged a tray of my wife's favourite chocolates, as well as a pair of specially decorated cupcakes for her.
While we were in the Club Lounge, having afternoon tea, Anna carefully crept into our room and left some pictures of my wife and I she'd taken earlier and printed out, then framed - so we would have some physical memories of our stay.
Afternoon tea was amazing, with a wide choice of sweet and savory treats that were delightful. The facilities in the lounge include a computer room, a well stocked open bar, and a great range of nibbles and soft drinks.
That evening we dined at Zest, where the staff, headed by Bastian, Catherine and Lilian made sure we had plenty to eat and drink from the seafood buffet. Chefs Ornato, Edison, and Xavier plied us with amuse bouche - which included grilled abalone and lobster - and had even prepared a special slide show of photos from our previous visits!
After dinner, and a quiet drink in the Flair Bar (courtesy of Robert), we retired to the Club Lounge to check our email, before turning in for the night.
Sleep came easily in the suite as it was, unusually for China, both dark and quiet! The bed was soft and comfortable, and the temperature very pleasant.
Morning saw us back at the Club Lounge for breakfast, where Chef Sophia was being kept busy cooking eggs in many different ways! Breakfast choices included an excellent array of freshly baked breads and pastries, as well as cereals, hot dishes and traditional Tianjin breakfast pancakes! We were truly spoilt for choice.
A few cups of coffee later, we went back to the room, and then smoothly checked out. All the staff were incredibly helpful, carrying our bags and boxes down to the lobby, then helping us hail an Uber to go home.
The Ritz-Carlton Tianjin made a special occasion into a truly memorable one, and I'd heartily recommend that if you're ever near Tianjin, you should go there!

My colleague and I ended up in the Ritz-Carlton at the last minute - we'd intended to visit Teda, but the explosion happened just before we arrived, necessitating a last-minute change of plans.
So we checked in, with no reservation, at 9am. The front desk were amazingly helpful - given the circumstances they let us check in hours early so we could catch up on sleep. Service was faultless from beginning to end.
The hotel looks to be quite new, and has been designed in a European style. So it's plush but a little surreal - for example shelves are lined with fake cardboard books which you only notice close up.
The room was perfect - huge and comfortable bed, gorgeous bathroom with roll-top bath and separate shower and toilet. Lots of nice touches like plug sockets by the bed for phone charging (why do so few hotels get that right, even now?).
Staying at the Ritz-Carlton turned our otherwise traumatic business trip into a comfortable and pleasant stay. Would come back in the (admittedly unlikely) even I visited Tianjin again. Recommended. And it was a real bargain too!

  • The best reason to visit Tianjin
    Ray H
    Beijing | Aug 31, 2015 | Trip type: Business

I've visited so many hotels over the years, many I never review because they are so dreadful, it's a pleasure to go to a hotel where I wish there was an extra category over 5 star I could choose. From the moment you arrive at the frontage the staff and the ambiance just fold around you like a warm mitten on a cold day. The staff are trained to the highest standard and actually seem to be enjoying what they do, the process of checking in is straight forwards and pleasant, the staff speak excellent English and are helpfulness incarnate. The room is beautifully serviced, the bath had little feet, there's a shelf in the shower to sit on, sigh, it's just lovely. There simply isn't anything to criticize, generally I would never recommend eating in a hotel, it's nearly always better to go explore the local eateries, however here the executive chef, Ornato Antunes, runs a fantastic kitchen, I had a chance to chat for a while with him, he's a chef at the top of his game and his team are spot on producing fine dining at its most exquisite. Well worth at least one meal there.
One important thought: arriving by rail as we were, on a fine day it's worth the walk if you're not too burdened with luggage. The walk along the river is lovely but note that you need to leave the ticketed area of the station by the SOUTH exit, the north is a weird wasteland.

  • Best place to be @ Tianjin

Tianjin, one of the biggest cities in China, a city with rich colonial history and an important seaport until today, still a rather less spectacular place to visit - if it weren't for the Ritz-Carlton. The architecture cites classical European style, outside (dubbed "The Castle") and inside (Aiming to revive Habsburg family's Vienna or Louis XIV' Paris?) - not necessarily my style preference but nevertheless impressive. Same can be said of the suite we had the luck to have. The surprise: High-Tech in the fantastic bathroom (TV hidden in mirror) or the magically opening curtains each time the room was entered. Less surprising: The famous Ritz-Carlton service excellence but here with an attention to detail second to none. Superb experience no matter what: arrival, check-in, concierge, room service, club lounge, food & beverage, bar, management attention, check-out. A definite must-stay for anyone travelling to Tianjin - I would even say: one of the best reasons to go there...
