I will be arriving earlier/later than the stated check-in time. Can I still check in?

Usually this is not a problem; you can arrange for an after-hours check-in with most hotels. However, you should always confirm with the hotel. You can use the "Special Requests" box in the booking process to inform them of your estimated arrival time in writing. It's important to remember that the property can't always accommodate these requests. It's always best to check with the property directly and in advance to avoid confusion. I want to check out after the stated check-out time. What should I do?

A late check-out can only be arranged with the hotel and usually depends on availability at the time of your stay. You can ask about the possibility at the front desk upon arrival.

We had the pleasure of spending a weekend in an executive suite with access to the horizon Lounge. The feel of the hotel is luxurious and calm. The rooms are stylish spacious and very well fitted out. We could not think of any other amenity we could need in our room everything had been thought of from the complimentary mini bar to the lanyard with a jogging route and detailed map of interesting sites in Tianjin. The staff were very friendly, helpful, efficient and professional this was particularly notable in the Horizon Lounge where we enjoyed the available complimentary food and refreshments.

The hotels amenities included a spa gym and a pool with views over the river. Which would make a great place to spend having a spa day. The restaurant

We ate in the Shang Place and had a wonderful Beijing duck dinner and the buffet and menu food and drink in the Horizon club kept us more than satisfied all through the day and night.

We are already planning our return to chill in this lovely hotel and explore Tianjin

  • Breakfast with an historic view!
    BJBruce
Beijing, China | Jul 4, 2018 | Trip type: Solo travel

Tianjin, in northern China, is a city worth visiting. Only 30 minutes south of Beijing by train, the city was the first international banking centre in late Qing Dynasty China. Much of the French and British concession areas still remain and make for fascinating exploration.
On my latest visit to Tianjin I stayed at the Shangri-La Hotel, 20/30 minute walk from the railway station along the banks of the Haihe River - a waterway once connecting the Grand Canal and the Bohai Gulf at Tanggu.
The hotel overlooks both the river and the concession areas - Jiefangbei Street, where most of the pseudo-classical bank buildings remain, is only 5 minutes walk.
During my short stay, breakfast in the delightful Horizon Club Lounge allowed me to leisurely look both over the growing CBD and the historic areas which have fascinated me for years through my photography. At the south end of the club lounge, wrap-round wall-to-ceiling windows give panoramic views but also located there is a bookcase with several photo-books detailing the historic areas and their architecture. The hotel also issues sketch-map booklets, ‘Discover Tianjin’, detailing that area and also have a jogging map following both banks of the Haihe River. I spent lengthy mornings working in the lounge while taking in the panorama. Bedroom windows also allow great views of the area.
The name,’Shangri-La’ conjures up images of James Hilton’s intriguing story ‘Lost Horizon’ - a copy of the book, placed in my bedroom, provided good bedtime reading.
Staying at the hotel was both excellent and relaxing. Staff at all levels across the hotel were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The levels of cuisine, beverage and hospitality were what is expected from a hotel of this level.
An interesting feature is the hotel’s ‘Tianjin’s Art Tour’ - sculpture and paintings around the hotel are featured in the pocket-sized visitor guide book.
I enjoyed my stay at the hotel -Tianjin is a city I visit regualrly for photography and writing. This was my first stay at the Shangri-La and it proved an excellent location to follow my interests. I would certainly stay there again.
