Well worth doing just to see the indoor market.

Our guide was very sweet, friendly and knowledgeable, and carried an I-pad to show us pictures of the different vegetables in their growing state. The chief was good and demonstrated the dishes in an easy mmanner. Would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Shanghai as you get to see the indoor market, mixing with the locals and visited a typical town apartment, apart from learning to cook 3 fantastic Chinese dishes.
Verny nice and good athmosphere, to be recommended.

Really good, we learnt a lot and enjoyed the market and home visit.

The meeting point was clear and easy to find, Cherry met us and we enjoyed her information at the market, she was well informed and spoke English well. Helen taught us the dishes we were interested in. Choosing what we wanted to learn made it extra good as we choose things we wanted to make again at home. Helen is patient and with excellent English was able to teach us techniques that would have been hard to pick up from a book. The food was delicious. A really excellent experience.
Well planned, very interesting, great food, good instructions.

We were met on time by Cherry and taken to the wet market. Cherry explained the vegetables we didn't know, and we were able to choose what we wanted to cook. We were then taken to the apartment and had tea, in a traditional way which we enjoyed. Helen then explained the cooking process we would do, and we enjoyed using traditional implements. The apartment was spotlessly clean. The food we cooked was delicious and we had fun. The only small disappointment was I thought we would get souvenir apron to take away with us, but this didn't happen. We were impressed with Helens desire to share the traditional elements of Chinese way of life
lots of fun!

We booked the cooking class for a Saturday afternoon and had such a great time! First we went to a local market, where the assistant explained a lot of typical chinese things about meat, vegetables etc. Then we went to her flat, had a tea ceremony and then started with the first dish. When we booked the class, we had to choose 3 dishes we wanted to cook, so at first we prepared these (like cutting the vegetables and meat). The cook himself was chinese and not speaking english, but the assistant was. She was also taking pictures, which she has sent to me afterwards. It was one of our highlights during the two weeks we spent in Shanghai!
Worth doing if you want to learn legit Chinese food
