My wife and I love to do cooking classes in every country we visit. During our trip to Xian we booked a cooking class, led by a former tour guide named Helen. The class takes place in her very beautiful apartment she shares with her mother. She taught us how to make dumplings and prepared many other meals for us. She also gave us lots of other sightseeing tips to use during our time in Xian as well as other parts of China. While the class wasn't as hands on as other cooking classes we've attended, her generosity and kindness more than won us over. She will hopefully provide the recipes for the meals we ate in the coming days. Definitely a worthwhile activity to do while in Xian.
